The John Curtin Gallery and Curtin University acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which Curtin Perth is located, the Whadjuk people of the Nyungar Nation.
The exhibition focuses on a group of Aboriginal children forcibly removed from their families and communities in the 1940’s. The remarkable artworks and stories in Carrolup Coolingah Wirn provide opportunities for truthful conversations about the impact of colonisation, the Stolen Generations and the rights of children today.
This exhibition is curated by Michelle Broun, the JCG’s Curator of Australian First Nations Art, and is built around a selection of artworks from the Herbert Mayer Collection of Carrolup Artworks.
The exhibition is open now. Gallery is free and open Monday to Friday 11am – 5pm and Sundays 12pm – 4pm (see map).
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are warned that photographs/videos on the exhibition page may contain images of deceased persons, which may cause sadness or distress.
