Second exposure site identified – Building 102
The University has been advised by the WA Health Department of another exposure site related to the person who tested positive to COVID-19 on Saturday 15 January.
The person was also in Curtin Connect in Building 102 on Friday 14 January from 2pm – 2.45pm. Any members of the Curtin community who were in these buildings at this time must get tested immediately and isolate until you receive a negative result, unless directly advised otherwise by the Department of Health. Please also contact covidconcern@curtin.edu.au so we can provide you with advice and support.
We have been advised the venues can remain open.
I realise there may be an increased level of anxiety among some students following this one positive case. I want to assure you Curtin is responding to Health Department notifications and advice, and is communicating this as swiftly as possible so that staff and students are informed. The University will continue to impart this information as quickly as it comes to hand.
As always, please follow health and safety guidelines including wearing masks indoors, checking in to venues, sanitising, practising physical distancing and staying home if you feel unwell. Support is also available through Curtin’s Psychological and Counselling Services.
Going forward, the University will be reviewing and updating all relevant operational and health and safety protocols to keep the Curtin community safe.
Anyone in the Curtin community who experiences COVID-19 symptoms should be tested, and remain isolated until they receive a negative result. All potential or confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Curtin community should be urgently referred to Safer Community Team on 089 266 4444.
Any questions or concerns regarding this case should be emailed to covidconcern@curtin.edu.au.
As always, thank you for your support in these challenging times.
