I hope everyone had a relaxing holiday season and a positive start to the new year.

The Minister for Health has now confirmed that COVID-19 restrictions will ease from 6am on 4 January 2022, but that the requirement to wear masks in indoor public spaces will remain in place until at least 6pm Friday 7 January 2022. Updated information on WA’s COVID restrictions is available online.

Guidance around the use of face masks at Curtin, including exceptions from use, can be found here.

Please have a mask available at all times. I suggest you keep spare masks at home and in your vehicle, to ensure you can always access one.

Physical distancing and good personal hygiene measures must be maintained at all Curtin sites. All students are strongly encouraged to get vaccinated, including the third dose booster shot, when they become eligible. High vaccination rates are our best protection against the virus, especially as WA embarks on its Safe Transition and ease interstate and international borders from 5 February 2022.

All campus users must continue to scan in or sign the contact register where the SafeWA QR code is displayed, and are encouraged to download and use Curtin’s SafeZone app. Keep checking the list of exposure sites and follow the testing and isolation advice if you have visited an exposure site. It is more important than ever for us not to become complacent about these steps.

Any suspected or confirmed cases of COVID-19 must be reported to Curtin’s Safer Community Team immediately on 9266 4444.
