O-Week is fast approaching – so here are some things to mark off your checklist to make sure you’re prepared to start university.
Buy your supplies. Check your unit outlines to find out which textbooks, stationery items, and other supplies are required for each unit. If you’re on a budget, head over to G Mart to see which second-hand textbooks are on offer – you can pick up your stationery while you’re there!
Get to know the campus. Organise a time to come to campus while it is quiet and locate the buildings and rooms where you have tutorials and lectures. It’s also a good idea to figure out how you’re getting to campus and familiarise yourself with the route.
Get a start on your readings. For most units, you’ll be expected to have done some reading before your first lecture or tutorial. Sometimes they can be pretty heavy, so it’s a good idea to get onto it as soon as possible!
Compare timetables with your friends. If you’ve got friends studying at Curtin this semester, send each other your timetables and organise a time to meet up during the first week! Catching up with friends on campus is a great way to reduce stress while you’re settling into university life.
Make the most of your free time. Once university starts, spare time can be hard to find in between all your other commitments – so make the most of it while you can! Catch up with your friends, go watch a movie, read a good book and enjoy yourself.
