The protestors gathered inside Building 215 on our Bentley campus this afternoon, have now returned to the encampment. Curtin will make clear any further gatherings inside any buildings will not be tolerated.
We are incredibly disappointed at today’s escalation of protest activities by a small group which we know disrupted and disturbed some staff and students. This move inside our buildings was an unacceptable breach.
Curtin supports freedom of speech and discourse, but only when it is civil and respectful of others. Since the beginning of this protest, Curtin has repeatedly advised the protestors that only peaceful and lawful activities that did not disrupt University life for students and staff would be tolerated. We are continuing to monitor the situation very closely.
As always, we are prioritising the safety and wellbeing of our community and will continue to update you.
If you have any safety concerns whatsoever, please contact our Safer Community Team. To report an incident or for urgent assistance call the team on 9266 4444 or via the SafeZone app.
