Hang on – what is the UBL?
University Basketball League (UBL) is a national competition providing a pathway for male and female basketball players to study and play for their universities.
UBL is run by UniSport Australia and takes inspiration from college basketball in the United States.
Curtin’s Head of Basketball Operations & Men’s head coach is no other than basketball legend Ricky Grace the former Wildcat, NBA star and Olympian.
Jorjah Smith is the Women’s head coach, who currently plays for the NBL1 and is a former player in the UK’s WBBL.
Curtin joined the UBL in its second year this March, along with the University of Adelaide, Federation University Australia and RMIT University. They join the founding universities: La Trobe University, The University of Melbourne, The University of Sydney, University of the Sunshine Coast, University of Technology Sydney, The University of Western Australia and Victoria University.
Come on down to the Stadium between classes and cheer on your fellow students as they represent Curtin. You can also support the teams by watching the games live on UniSportTV if you can’t make it.
