In September, Curtin’s athletes showcased their talent and tenacity at the annual UniSport Nationals, hosted in Canberra. Competing alongside 6,000 athletes from across Australia, our representatives took part in various sports including basketball, judo, fencing, volleyball, and hockey, proving once again that Curtin has a vibrant and competitive sports culture.

The spirit of our athletes shone through as they demonstrated remarkable resilience, development, and sportsmanship throughout the competition. This dedication was reflected in rankings for the John White Spirit Trophy, where Curtin finished an impressive 10th out of 42 competing universities. This recognition highlights not just our athletes’ skill, but also their commitment to representing our university with pride.

Among the standout performances was Thomas Knight, who made waves in the judo arena. As Western Australia’s sole competitor in the sport, Thomas competed in the men’s under 66kg division, ultimately securing a bronze medal. His achievement is a testament to the hard work and dedication that our athletes bring to their training and competition.
