Throughout the year, students are constantly seeking opportunities to embark on their professional journeys through vacation programs, internships or graduate opportunities. However, the application process can often be complex and daunting, especially with the numerous processes involved with different employers and their requirements.
Curtin Kalgoorlie’s Career Tips Tuesdays was designed to empower students with insights straight from the perspective of a potential employer, and recently invited representatives from the renowned mining company BHP to share their expertise.
Students gained valuable information on what documents to include, and the process to follow for internships and graduate programs to give their applications a competitive edge. The representatives also shared advice on what it takes to stand out in the job application process and emphasized the significance of showcasing extracurricular activities, such as volunteering events and community involvement, to bolster their credentials.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from around 50 mining engineering and metallurgy students. It was heartening to witness students from different corners of the globe, including India, China, Indonesia, the Philippines, Nepal, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, and beyond, coming together to benefit from this experience.
