Premier Mark McGowan has announced that the move to Phase 5 COVID-19 restrictions in WA has been delayed until a tentative date of October 24, and the planned Royal Show has been cancelled. These decisions have been made on health advice.
The two square metre rule remains in place on Curtin’s WA campuses and all students and staff are asked to continue to be diligent about physical distancing and personal hygiene practices. This includes not shaking hands or hugging, and washing hands regularly.
It is also important not to come on to campus if you are feeling unwell. Anyone attending a Curtin campus when unwell may be asked to go home and seek medical advice.
Staff are asked to keep their work areas clean, and teaching staff and students are also asked to help keep Curtin COVID safe by ensuring all hard surfaces in teaching spaces are wiped down at the start of each class using the cleaning products available. Used wipes can be placed in the nearest bin. If additional supplies are needed, please call extension 2020. Rooms will be professionally cleaned on a regular basis but it is important to wipe down surfaces at the start of each class, just as it is important to keep office work spaces clean.
Western Australia is fortunate to have had no recent community transmission of COVID-19 but, as we have seen in other states and countries, the situation can change very quickly. Let’s continue our efforts to keep our campuses safe places to study and work.
