A second year Curtin physiotherapy student was yesterday presented with a prestigious WA Innovator of the Year Award at the culmination of this week’s Univation event.

After the presentation, WA Science and Innovation Minister Bill Marmion said that Hayley Warren’s HALO invention promised to revolutionise physiotherapy.

Ms Warren was one of only five award recipients, taking out the Start Up Category.

Her HALO digital goniometer is a compact device that can be carried in the pocket of therapists to accurately measure anatomical angles.

The invention promises to improve the reliability of measuring angle ranges for clinicians in the professions of physiotherapy, podiatry, occupational therapy, orthopaedics and rehabilitation.

Details of HALO are available at www.halotherapyequipment.com.
