Curtin University is pleased to announce The Business of Mining MOOC (Massive Open Online Course). This free online course has been designed to showcase WA’s mining excellence and promote awareness and understanding of the complexities of the minerals, exploration and business sectors.
“MOOCs are enabling Curtin to embrace new technology, teaching methods and learning,” said Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Education, Professor Jill Downie. “When complete more than one million people will be engaged in a Curtin learning experience that is interactive, collaborative, flexible, personalised and available from anywhere, any time and from any location.”
Developed in collaboration with leading industry and education experts, this course uses interactive challenge-based techniques to provide an introduction to the lifecycle of mining, from exploration, through to mine planning, operation and closure.
The topics covered in the MOOC are exploration, legislation, regulation, licencing, environmental and heritage management, financial feasibility, mine closure and rehabilitation.
This new MOOC will be available from early July.
