The Service will provide excellence in education and care to support the individual child, their family, and all staff to reach their full potential.
Mission
To provide authentic and real-life experiences in a creative and nurturing environment that celebrates and respects all cultures.
The quality of care in the centre is based on respect for each child and assisting children to build trust in others and themselves. The centre provides a warm and caring environment where your child can learn and grow. The curriculum is designed to assist children to become lifelong learners.
All staff have qualifications in children’s services or education, and all the children’s rooms have a number of staff providing care and education to the children. Two early childhood teachers provide a kindergarten program to three- to five year old preschool areas.
The Centre offers places for children under two years old in two nurseries. There are also two groups for two- to three year old children, and two groups for three- to five year old children.
As demand for the centre is high, priority is given to Curtin students and staff.
Your child is able to start later only if full fees are paid for the offered days until your child commences.
Most of the centre’s vacancies occur during January and February when the older children leave for school and the younger children move up to their next group. On occasion vacancies may occur when families leave the centre throughout the year.
You can use a couple of hours of the day, however the standard daily fee applies to the 10.5 hours the centre is open. Regardless of the amount of hours the children use, all are charged the daily rate.
Yes, in order to retain the child’s place at the centre. However, childcare benefit is paid for up to 42 days per year when a child does not attend if there is not any approved supporting documentation such as a doctor’s certificate.
Unfortunately the Curtin Early Childhood Centre does not offer tours. Once a place or position has been offered, a tour of the area can be arranged so that parents are confident about accepting their offer.
Parents of current children are welcome at most times of the day and encouraged to call in whenever possible. As we are situated on a campus with beautiful lawns and gardens, some parents enjoy taking their children out for an occasional picnic lunch before returning them for the afternoon.
Educators often take the children for walks exploring the campus grounds with parent permission, and during the year there are a number of occasions when parents and grandparents are formally invited to morning or afternoon teas.
Mothers who are breastfeeding their babies are welcome to come into the centre to feed their babies.
