Student Serology Health Screening
As part of the inherent requirements for clinical placements in health sciences, it is necessary for students to undertake health screening to better protect them from contracting infections in clinical placements and to protect colleagues and patients.
Health screening includes proof of immunisation against infectious diseases (most immunisations are given to very young children) or proof of immunity to infectious diseases.
For some degrees it is necessary to screen for certain viral infections so that they can be properly managed in accordance with national guidelines.
What to provide
Students will be required to gather and provide evidence of all previous vaccinations administered within Australia or overseas. For overseas students, a copy of the vaccination records must be translated into English (if possible). The Nurses will carry out an initial assessment of your vaccinations records to assist the doctor in completing the Student Serology Form.
