Café Connect

Café Connect is a weekly pop-up event where you can get an introduction to student life at Curtin, connect with like-minded students and enjoy free snacks and drinks.

Running throughout the semester, each session is themed around a new helpful topic for international students, including learning about key student services, how to enhance your academic skills, tips on how to increase your employability and more.

With a range of guest speakers from various teams around the university, this is the best way to learn about the programs and services available at your disposal in a casual, interactive setting.

“It gave me the sense of consistency and comfort knowing that I’ll be seeing the same staff members. They were always so approachable… I was very grateful to meet a lot of wonderful and supportive people along the way who helped me settle into uni and find the best version of myself.”

“Café Connect has been a great opportunity to meet and talk to new people. This is especially very helpful as an exchange student in a new environment.

I think exchange students like attending Café Connect as it is a relaxed and open event with many activities and games to enjoy. Students attending it have got the same mindset about getting to know one another and Curtin staff is very welcoming.”

“Café Connect helped me connect with support services by hosting different sessions throughout Curtin campus and making it more engaging and convenient for students to access those services. It’s a healthy and safe environment for international students; they can connect with each other and be relatable to each other’s situation and meet loads of new faces every week.”

“Cafe Connect is an excellent way for new international students to make friends. In my case, the friends I initially met through Cafe Connect attended the sessions regularly. Therefore, meeting the same set of people every week helped us bond really well. It was also nice to meet people from different faculties whom you wouldn’t usually have the chance of meeting.”

“The information provided at the events are handy if you’re confused about student life at Curtin. It’s a good place to go to do a deep dive into one aspect of unilife from an admin perspective, and a great opportunity to ask staff members questions.”
