Inherent requirements for Paramedicine

These inherent requirements apply to the Bachelor of Science (Paramedicine). and have been developed to ensure that all students understand the expectations required by Curtin University and the Paramedicine Board of Australia.

Why are inherent requirements essential for studying this course?

The Bachelor of Science (Paramedicine) at Curtin University will need to meet the requirements of the professional body to register to work in this profession. Students should be familiar with the requirements set out by the following accrediting bodies and Standards, which may impact their progression throughout their studies and in entering the profession:

Paramedicine Board

The Paramedicine Board of Australia works to ensure that Australia’s paramedics are suitably trained, qualified and safe to practise. Public safety is our priority.

Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency

The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency works in partnership with the National Boards to ensure that Australia’s registered health practitioners are suitably trained, qualified and safe to practise.

The inherent requirements should be read in conjunction with other course information as well as the Paramedicine Board of Australia (PBA) publications:

Code of conduct

The shared Code of conduct (the code) applies to registered health practitioners in 12 professions. The code sets out National Boards’ expectations of professional behaviour and conduct for practitioners registered in these professions.

Guidelines for mandatory notifications

The guidelines are developed to provide direction to registered health practitioners, employers of practitioners and education providers about the requirements for mandatory notifications under the National Law.

Registration standards

The registration standards define the requirements all applicants need to meet to be registered.
