ATAR pathway

Have you recently finished, or are you about to finish, high school ATAR studies? Find how to use your ATAR for entry into Curtin.

Is ATAR the right pathway for me?

Using your ATAR to get into university is the traditional entry pathway for high school students or recent graduates. You’re eligible for the ATAR pathway if you:

Don’t meet the criteria? We also offer several non-ATAR entry pathways to university. Explore all entry pathways.

How to get into Curtin using your ATAR

If you completed ATAR studies in high school, you can use your ATAR to apply to Curtin, no matter where you’re applying from in Australia. First you’ll need to check that your ATAR score meets the course requirements. You’ll also need to have met our English language requirements and any course-specific requirements, such as prerequisite subjects or inherent requirements.

How am I assessed based on my ATAR?

We’ll use your ATAR and any adjustment factors to determine your selection rank, which we’ll use to assess you for entry to your chosen course. If don’t receive any adjustment factors, your ATAR is your selection rank.

Am I eligible for ATAR adjustment?

If your ATAR studies have been influenced by socioeconomic factors, you may be eligible for our StepUp program, which adds adjustment points to your ATAR. You may also be eligible for special consideration due to illness, disability or caring for a family member.

What ATAR do I need to get into my course?

You’ll need a selection rank or ATAR score of 70 or above to study at Curtin. Some courses have higher ATAR requirements or competitive entry. To find out the guaranteed or minimum ATAR requirement for a course, search for your course and head to the course essentials section.

It’s also worth having a look at the lowest selection rank that was accepted for the most recent intake for your course – especially if the course is competitive (i.e. has a minimum ATAR). This rank will give you an idea of what you’ll need to be offered a place in the course.
