What is a Further Assessment and how do I get one?

UPDATED 05 FEB 2024 | 2:38AM

A Further Assessment is when an eligible student is given the opportunity to meet the required learning outcomes of a unit by completing an additional assessment task. This task may be different to that which was originally completed. Further Assessments are not offered to all students and are awarded on a case-by-case basis by the discretion of the Board of Examiners (BoE). Not all units are eligible for a Further Assessment. A unit’s eligibility for Further Assessment will be detailed in the Unit Outline. Please note that the criteria in which the BoE consider when awarding Further Assessments varies depending on when you commenced the relevant study period: applicable for study periods that commenced prior to 1 June 2022. applicable for study periods that commenced after 1 June 2022. If you are granted a Further Assessment you will notified of the details via your Official Communications channel. It is your responsibility to be available to attend or complete the Further Assessment based on the instructions provided by the organising area. If you pass the Further Assessment, you will retain your initial mark but will be awarded a pass for the unit. If you have concerns regarding your academic studies, including appealing your marks, please contact Student Wellbeing or the Guild Student Assist for support.
