What is sexual harassment?

UPDATED 04 NOV 2024 | 1:04AM

Sexual harassment can take many forms and can include any unwelcome sexual advances, unwelcome requests for sexual favours and unwelcome conduct of a sexual nature.

Sexual harassment is:

  • any unwanted or unwelcome sexual behaviour, which makes a person feel offended, humiliated or intimidated
  • gender-based verbal or physical conduct that is sufficiently severe, pervasive and objectively offensive
  • interaction, flirtation or friendship which is not mutual or consensual.

If you have experienced sexual harassment, we encourage you to contact the police and/or the Safer Community Team.

Once you have sought support, it is your choice whether you want to progress to making a formal report or not. Curtin University will support you either way through our free and confidential support services.
