What are databases and where can I find databases for my subject area?

UPDATED 13 NOV 2024 | 8:10AM

Databases are large, searchable collections of online resources such as journal articles, books, reports, videos and other resources. They may be general in subject coverage (multidisciplinary) or focus on specific areas (subject-specific). The Library subscribes to a large number of databases and a list of these is available on the Library Databases page. Use the All subjects dropdown menu to view a list of databases that focus on your discipline. Those that are marked as 'Key' will be particularly helpful for finding journal articles and other scholarly research related to your subject area.

For more information about searching databases, see our Finding information guide.
