I would like to take a break from my studies. What are my options?

UPDATED 06 SEP 2024 | 6:38AM

If you would like to take a break from your studies, the following options are available to you:

  • Take a leave of absence: Taking a leave of absence reserves your place in the course for the duration of the approved leave. You can take leave from your course for a period of up to 12 months.
  • Reduce your study load: You can choose to study a reduced load for one or more study periods.
  • Withdraw from your course: If you choose to return to your course after you have completely withdrawn, you will need to submit a new application. Any units that you have completed under your previous attempt of the course will be automatically credited to your new course if they align with the course structure at the time of your new application.
  • If you feel that the course you are currently in is no longer for you, you may wish to consider changing to a different course.

If you are an international student, it is your responsibility to investigate the implications of the aforementioned options on your student visa.
