This specialisation highlights the way in which chemistry is an integral science required to develop solutions to sustainability. A broad range of topics will be covered, including water, energy, industry and the environment. You’ll also develop effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.

What you'll learn

  • have demonstrated narrower knowledge and understanding in a further field of study that is typically at a level that, whilst supported by advanced textbooks, includes some aspects that will be informed by knowledge of the forefront of chemistry of sustainable development, G1
  • can apply their narrower knowledge and understanding in a manner that indicates a professional approach to the field, and have competencies typically demonstrated through devising and sustaining arguments (to both specialist and non-specialist audiences) and solving problems within chemistry of sustainable development including using digital technologies, G2, G3
  • can gather and interpret relevant data within chemistry of sustainable development to inform judgements that include reflection on relevant social, scientific, or ethical issues, including being aware of the diversity of international perspectives associated with chemistry of sustainable development, and how these impact upon the practice of the field, G4, G5
  • display a high standard of professional behaviour, including effective time management, both independently and as a team member, G6
