Overview
Overview
Condition Monitoring is a maintenance approach whereby the machine’s health and safety are evaluated, and possibly the remaining useful life of the machine is forecasted, using machine sensor data and state-of-the-art monitoring software. The goal of the approach is to maximise the useful life of a machine, or its parts, and replace worn or broken parts at a convenient time so as to minimise the machine’s downtime. This extension specialisation will focus on performing condition monitoring using vibrations; hence, it is assumed that students have a fundamental understanding of the principles of vibrations in machines or structures. Hardware and software implementation will be addressed.
