All businesses need professionals who understand and can safeguard against legal risk, which means that this qualification can boost your career prospects across a range of industries.

The Undergraduate Certificate in Business Law will give you an understanding of the risks and liabilities involved in business decisions that contribute to economic and workforce growth and development.

You will learn about:

  • markets and legal frameworks, including marketing strategies, stakeholder relationships, and the concepts of law and regulation
  • contract law, including how contracts are used to allocate risk and laws dealing with contract disputes and damages.
  • business law with regard to business operations, including in the finance and insurance domains.
  • company law, including types of business structures, corporate fundraising and share capital, shares and dividends, stakeholder responsibilities, and the role of the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC).

This course differs to Curtin’s Bachelor of Business Law in that it is suitable for people from all education and study backgrounds who want to understand the basic laws of business to help develop their career in business or commerce.

Completing this undergraduate certificate also offers you a pathway into the Bachelor of Commerce (Business Law) course.

  • apply critical and creative thinking and problem solving skills relevant to business law to generate innovative solutions to problems
  • use technology appropriately to communicate business law concepts to experts and non-experts
