      This course is 6 months full time or equivalent part time study. Students can commence in either semester, but can only study full-time if they commence in semester 1. Students who commence in Semester 2, can only study part-time.

    Overview

    Overview

    This course will prepare you for advanced studies in health promotion or related fields.

    You’ll learn how to:

    • implement health promotion strategies to address community needs and prevent disease
    • develop innovative solutions through critical and creative thinking
    • apply global health promotion perspectives and adhere to international standards.

    After completing this course, you’ll be equipped for roles in health promotion, public health and community health education.

    What you'll learn

    • apply principles and concepts of health promotion in a variety of contexts relevant to further learning and/or work in an unrelated field
    • apply critical and creative thinking and problem solving skills relevant to health promotion to generate innovative solutions to problems
    • use technology appropriately to communicate effectively
    • consider global perspectives on health promotion and international health promotion standards
    • demonstrate respect for Indigenous values, cultures and knowledges and consider Indigenous perspectives on health promotion
    • work professionally in teams and independently, and demonstrate life-long learning skills

    What is a Commonwealth supported place (CSP)?

    A CSP is subsidised by the Australian Government. They pay part of the course fees directly to Curtin and then the student pays the remainder (referred to as the “student contribution amount”). The student can defer this fee to their HECS-HELP loan.

    All Australian students studying an undergraduate degree are automatically awarded a Commonwealth supported place. A limited number of Commonwealth supported places are also available for some postgraduate courses.

    Fees are indicative first year only and are subject to passage of legislation.

    *The indicative first-year fee is calculated on 200 credit points, which is the typical full-time study load per year, however some courses require additional study to be completed, in which case the fee will be higher than that shown.
