UPDATED 27 JUN 2024 | 3:15AM

This depends on the type of work experience you are undertaking.

Not for course credit

Free work experience insurance is available from Recruit Curtin. To be eligible for this work experience insurance, you must:

  • be a currently enrolled Curtin student
  • complete any required pre-placement training

Your placement must be:

  • unpaid
  • a maximum of 112.5 hours
  • related to your course of study
  • not for course credit or a course requirement for graduation
  • completed while still an enrolled Curtin student
  • mostly shadowing a supervisor or peer in the workplace (cannot be undertaken remotely)
  • Fair Work Act compliant.

To apply for free work experience insurance, please complete the Fieldwork and Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Risk Assessment and then submit a Student Work Experience Insurance Request.

The Recruit Curtin team is available to discuss work experience insurance with you.

For course credit or graduation requirement

If your work experience is for course credit or a course requirement for graduation, insurance is provided by your faculty, contact Curtin Connect to find out more.

For volunteer opportunities

If your work experience is a volunteer opportunity with Curtin University, Curtin's Risk & Assurance will provide personal accident insurance.

If your work experience is a volunteer opportunity with a not-for-profit organisation, the organisation should provide Volunteer Personal Accident Insurance for you.

Remember, Curtin Careers is available to discuss work experience insurance with you.
