Where can I get help with editing or proofreading my assignment or research paper?
For help editing your assignment or research paper, visit our editing and proofreading guide. Included here is an editing checklist that you can use while doing the final check of your work. If you’d prefer to work through editing and proofreading with others, you can attend an Editing Essentials workshop or submit a general query via the Library help form (please note: we are unable to edit your assignment for you).
Curtin students can access Grammarly via the Institution Page in Blackboard under Library & Study Support. This Curtin-provided version uses artificial intelligence (AI) to check spelling, grammar, and punctuation, make your writing more understandable and help you make the right impression on the reader based on your audience and goals. You should always review Grammarly’s suggestions carefully to ensure that they are correct and that they don’t change the meaning of your writing. The Curtin-provided version is the only version of Grammarly allowed for use in assignments at Curtin as all Gen-AI elements are disabled in the Curtin version.
For Higher Degree by Research (HDR) students, the Research Writing Series in the Graduate Research Advanced Skills Program (GRASP) has resources and a workshop recording on editing and proofreading journal papers and thesis. You can also attend an Editing and Proofreading session aimed at HDRs. Academic staff and HDR students can also refer to the Institute of Professional Editors for assistance with editing and proofreading. Please be aware that there is a cost involved.
Undergraduate students, please note that contracting editing services (e.g. for assignments) may breach academic integrity. If you are unsure, check with your lecturer.
