What discount do I get if I pay my fees upfront?

UPDATED 18 JAN 2019 | 3:55PM

Australian citizens, eligible New Zealand Special Category Visa (SCV) and Permanent Humanitarian Visa holders who are studying in a Commonwealth Supported Place are eligible for a 10% discount for upfront payments made. Please visit the Study Assist website for further information on discounts for upfront payments.

Domestic students undertaking a Postgraduate course do not obtain any discounts from the University for upfront payments. However, the Australian Tax Office (ATO) does give students a 5% bonus for voluntary upfront payments of $500 or more. In order to qualify for this bonus you must be eligible for FEE-HELP and must opt to defer your fees through the FEE-HELP payment option to the ATO. For more information on repaying your FEE-HELP loan, please visit the Study Assist website.

Please note: From 1 January 2017, the Australian Government will remove the HECS-HELP discount and the HELP voluntary repayment bonus. Commonwealth Supported Students - Permanent Residents (PR): Post 2005 PR students are not eligible for the 10% discount offered by Curtin for making an upfront payment. Transitional arrangements for pre-2005 HECS students ended on 31 December 2008. New Zealand citizens and Permanent Visa Holders who were eligible to defer their student contribution to a loan under HECS are not eligible for HECS-HELP after this date. International students are not eligible for discounts for upfront payments. 'Not For Degree' students are not eligible for discounts for upfront payments.
