How do I know if my fees are deferrable?

UPDATED 08 OCT 2024 | 2:23AM

You can check if your fees are deferrable by downloading your eInvoice and checking that your fees have a status of “Deferrable”. If your fees appear on your eInvoice as deferrable, you won’t need to pay them upfront; they will be paid using a HELP Loan (e.g. HECS-HELP) and deferred to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) once the study period census date has passed.

If your fees appear on your eInvoice with a Status of “Not Deferrable”, they will not be deferred to the ATO and you must pay them upfront. Alternatively, if eligible you can submit a valid with your tax file number (TFN) by the study period due date to have the status changed to "Deferrable".

Deferring your Tuition and Student Services and Amenities Fees (SSAF)

  • For your Tuition fees to be deferrable, you must submit a valid or eCAF with your TFN by the study period due date.
  • For your Student Services and Amenities Fees (SSAF) to be deferrable, you must also submit a valid eCAF with your TFN by the study period due date.
